Search for: Close 1 Comment on How to Reuse Wax Melts Wax melts are somewhat of a staple in my magick area. I love that they give off a continuous scent and also they’re a little firey. I have 2 oil burners that I also put wax melts in. Both of them use little tea light candles, which are great for doing a few hours of work and being able to let the candle run out completely.
What I love to do is add a few drop of essential oil or scented oils to the hard wax and light my candle. As the wax heats and melts, it releases the scent of the essential oil.
As essential oil scents don’t stay very long without a carrier oil, I find them the perfect oil to use. This means that almost every time I use my wax melt, I get to add a new scent and reuse the same wax.
You could probably even purchase some unscented wax and do this too.
My mom had given me a VERY strong wax melt scented like the beach, which was great for the main area of the house, but WAAAAYY too strong for my little area. Adding a few drops of essential oil to the wax is perfect. I set it on my desk and get to work whether that is ritual work (candle magick, simple sigils, or manifesting spells), tarot readings, or writing for this blog.
P.S. I feel like I should disclose something to you- I had to find a way to reuse the wax melts because I am absolutely horrible at digging the melts out of the warmer :-).
Did you know, instead of digging the wax out when you’re finished with it, you can actually clean it out when it’s hot and the wax is melted. Simply add a few cotton balls or cotton pads and let them soak up the wax and then remove them. You can toss them if you wish but they actually make great fire lights. 🙂
